Exploring Vienna: special offers (part 1)

Do you like museums? Would you spend your valuable time and hard-vienna-museumsquartierearned money to visit dozens of them during your travels? The answer is so obvious… But everything could change if you look from another point of view- would you find time to attend a guided tour in one of the richest museums of the world for free? Or to make another attempt to understand the modern art with the vienna-modern-artbest art critics…for free as well? Or…would you like to visit 134 museums for 15 EUR, the price includes also the public transport ticket valid for the whole period of this offer?  Yep, Vienna is the perfect place to penetrate in the world of culture almost without spending money for that. You just should be at the right place at the right time.

Long night of museums

When: annual event (in October), in the night- 18:00 PM-01:00 AM Where: most museums open their doors for curious visitors                       Price: 15 EUR (in 2016), this ticket is valid for all museums, participating in this event+public transport.

NB: Not only “serious” museums like Albertina or Museum of Natural history are on the program, but also such museums, as Museum of Chocolate or Schlumberger Kellerwelten (so called “Museum of Champagne”), where you can find out some interesting facts and also try the “masterpieces”- numerous degustation points are offered to the visitors- without any additional investments =) Just show your ticket at the entrance, get your glass of champagne, if you want,  attend the presentation about the history of the company and “Sekt” production (Austrian sparkling wine) and then enjoy the guided tour in cellars, but don’t forget your glass, as at the end of the tour another bottle of champagne will be opened for you to demonstrate the technique of sabrage- opening of the champagne/”Sekt” bottle with the help of the sabre….and after the photoshooting you’ll be offered to try delicious sweets-the regular ticket costs 10 Eur, but during this night of magic you need only 1 ticket for all museums- not bad, do you agree?

Special prices and events

If your visit to Vienna doesn’t coincide with the “Long night of museums” you should check for special working hours and offers of museums, as many of them offer free entrance on certain occasions, some of them- free entry on certain days on regular basis, for example MAK – free vienna-makentry every Tuesday 18:00-22:00, Wien Museum Karlsplatz and Clock Museum– every first Sunday of the month. Such museums as AlbertinaBelvedere Museum of Fine ArtNatural History Museum and Leopold museum offer free entry for special events, so don’t forget to check the program of museums on their home pages in internet. For example, Museum of Fine Arts gives you a free entry on your birthday; Dorotheum-
famous auction house, cooperates with numerous museums and as a result, we have dozens of wonderful opportunities to enjoy the art in a special way- as several examples- free guided tours in MUMOK on 16.10.2016, or Kunstschatzi– cool evening with DJ and vienna-mumokcocktails in the Museum of Fine Arts (costs 10 Eur, but it will certainly be an interesting experience).

Vienna tries to involve everyone in its cultural life, treating its guests with numerous classical/ traditional top-events/  exhibitions with a modern twist for very reasonable budget.
